Maryland Beaver Working Group

CER is a supporting member of the Maryland Beaver Working Group, which is a collaborative of conservation professionals advancing policies that support beavers as a keystone species supporting biodiversity and healthy wetland ecosystems. The Working Group has developed an Action Plan supporting the following priority goals:

(1) Build a beaver movement to advocate for policy-driven solutions that support beavers as a keystone species, and

(2) Restore floodplain wetland acres through increased beaver-occupied habitat.

The Maryland Beaver Working Group has submitted comments to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife & Heritage Service regarding the 10-year update of the State Wildlife Action Plan, which establishes priority actions for Species of Greatest Conservation Need.
